Update: Judge Allows Measure B To Appear On Upcoming Ballot

A Shasta County judge has reversed his previous ruling to keep an election related voter initiative off the ballot. Judge Ben Hanna made a preliminary ruling last week that the measure cannot appear on the ballot because it would violate state elections laws. Petitioners filed the case in the Third District California Appeals Court, but Judge Hanna halted his previous order Thursday, allowing the measure to go on the ballot. Measure B calls for hand-counted elections, to be completed in a single day, with limited exceptions for mail-in ballots, and for a photo ID requirement. All of these changes would violate state law.
