Update: Man Accused Of Murdering His Sister Pleads Not Guilty

A Cottonwood man is being held without bail following arraignment Wednesday for the alleged murder of his sister. Last Friday night 71-year-old Georgia Barker was shot multiple times inside her home on Shane Lane in Cottonwood. Sheriff’s detectives say she was killed by 68-year-old George Barker. He’s also accused of setting fire to the house next door. A short time later barker was detained elsewhere in Cottonwood after an alleged hit-and-run while intoxicated. Evidence was gathered at the home and George Barker was interviewed by detectives and then booked into jail for murder, causing a fire and other charges. On Wednesday he pled not guilty to his lengthy list of charges and enhancements. He returns to court next week.
