A large spectacle will take place at Redding Regional Airport Friday, with a large presence of emergency vehicles along with various fire and law enforcement personnel. It’s a “Mass Casualty Incident Training Exercise” that’s required by the Federal Aviation Administration every three years at commercial airports. It’ll simulate a disaster involving a mock-up aircraft on fire. Equipment has been staging for the drill over the last couple of days. Most of the operation will take place at the north end of the airfield near the Forest Service Facility. The public is not invited to observe.
