Update: Officers Arrest 19-Year-Old After Fatal Shooting In Redding

Redding Police have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a man in East Redding over the weekend. At 2:20PM Saturday afternoon officers were dispatched to a home on Ricardo Avenue on a report that someone had been shot. They arrived to find 22-year-old Paul David Nelson was already deceased. Since then, detectives have been collecting evidence, talking to many witnesses and following leads in the case that span several counties. They learned there were multiple people in the home when the shooting happened. Detectives say 19-year-old Ethan Andrew Couch had been handling a gun when it discharged for reasons that are still under investigation. After Nelson was fatally struck, Couch and all the others fled the home before police got there. Couch and one of the witnesses were questioned at the police station on Monday, and another witness was also contacted. Police are not saying if the shooting is considered accidental or premeditated, but Couch is being held without bail on charges of murder, conspiracy and second degree robbery.
