After the sudden and unexpected death of Redding City Manager William Tarbox, the City Council showed some emotion during Tuesday night’s regular meeting, but they went ahead with business, almost as usual. Michael Webb, who had been serving as Assistant City Manager, was appointed to serve as Interim City Manager until a replacement is found. Webb will likely be one of the applicants. Tarbox had held the position for 5 months following the retirement of Barry Tippin.
Also on tuesday, the council appointed Robert “Hank” Shreeder as Interim Police Chief. Shreeder was the Santa Rosa Police Chief for 27 years until his retirement in 2019. He’ll serve as RPD Chief while candidates go through the interview process, expected to begin next week. Chief Brian Barner retired at the end of June after a 34 year career with the RPD.
