Update: Shasta County Reports 8 Cases Of Measles

There are 17 confirmed cases of Measles in the entire state of California and 8 of them are in Shasta County. Public Health Officials say that because the additional 7 patients are close contacts of the initial case and have cooperated with containment procedures, they’re all considered to be contained at this time. The California Department of Public Health says 2 doses of MMR Vaccine provide 97% protection against Measles. Around 90% of unvaccinated people who are exposed will get the disease.
