A solar power project between Shingletown and Manton has the go-ahead now that an appeal of the use permit has been denied by the Shasta County Board of Supervisors. More than 8,700 solar modules would be spread across 25 acres off Wilson Hill Road about 5 miles south of Highway 44. The location is next to an existing PG&E electrical distribution site. The Planning Commission granted a use permit in January, but an appeal was filed citing potential environmental damage, including to wetlands, Oak Trees and various wildlife. The location of the solar array will be in Chris Kelstrom’s district. He was only one who voted to support the appeal.
