A man who was wanted for a murder committed in Corning has been captured. At around 12:30PM on the afternoon of April 9th Corning Police were called to the Salado Orchard Apartments on Toomes Avenue. They found 30-year-old Michael Rodriguez of Orland on the top banister of a staircase. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso, and later died. Area residents were told to keep their doors locked while police searched for the shooter. A week later as public appeal was made seeking the location of 36-year-old Rafael Ruvalcaba, whose alias is apparently “Sicko”. Investigators have said the shooting was not gang-related as they first suspected, but they do believe it was drug related. On Monday Ruvalcaba was apprehended at an apartment on Newport Avenue in Orland by the Tehama County Sheriff’s SWAT Team. He’s being held without bail.
