Update: Wildlife Rangers Capture Mountain Lion Roaming In Mount Shasta

Residents of a Mount Shasta neighborhood are breathing a sigh of relief after the capture of a Mountain Lion that had been munching on their pets and poultry. The juvenile female lion was orphaned near Weed last month. State Fish and Wildlife Rangers rescued her, rehabilitated her, and fitted her with a GPS collar. She was released in a remote area of the Trinity Alps but found her way back to her home range of Weed and Mount Shasta. She was never considered a threat to humans. Last Friday morning she was spotted in a tree off Mill Road in Mount Shasta City. She was tranquilized and captured. She’ll be relocated again, and her movements will be closely followed to be sure she doesn’t go back.
