Update: Woman Struck By Allegedly Drunk Driver Succumbs To Her Injuries

A woman has apparently died of her injuries after being struck by an allegedly drunk driver in Downtown Weaverville last week. Just before 1 O’clock Thursday afternoon, 28-year-old Marissa Pena Alvarez of Antioch was on the shoulder of Highway 299 east of Ransom Road when she was struck by a car driven by 64-year-old Denelle Hargrove of Lewiston, according to the CHP. Hargrove apparently did not stop and was followed by witnesses to the Holiday Market parking lot, where she got out and went into the store. She was arrested for felony DUI and felony hit-and-run. Marissa leaves behind a large family, including four children between the ages of 6 and 10. A GoFundMe page has been set up for the children.
