A Redding woman is accused of striking a teenage girl in the head with a baseball bat during a brawl at Caldwell Park. Sunday evening Redding Police were called to the skate park on reports of a large fight involving several juveniles. An adult woman was reportedly fighting with the teenagers when she called 32-year-old Amanda Kleeber to come help her. Officers say Kleeber pulled up in her car, got out with a baseball bat in her hand and brandished it at many of the teens before striking a 16-year-old girl in the head. She reportedly fled before officers arrived but was seen on North Market Street and pulled over at Lake and Masonic. Police say they could see the bat on the rear floorboard, though Kleeber at first denied having it. She was booked into jail for charges including assault with a deadly weapon and child abuse. The teenage girl was evaluated but refused medical treatment.
