Woman Struck And Killed By Vehicle In Red Bluff On Sunday Night

A 61-year-old homeless woman was killed in Red Bluff Sunday night after she was struck by a Chevy van, according to the Red Bluff Police Department. Officers responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian call at 8:37PM on Antelope Boulevard east of I-5. They found the unidentified woman laying in the eastbound lanes and began lifesaving efforts, but the woman was declared dead at the scene. Police say that a 56-year-old man was traveling eastbound in a 1988 Chevy van at about 35MPH when he saw the woman in the middle of the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk. The driver was unable to stop and hit the woman causing fatal injuries. Red Bluff Police say the driver had a suspended or revoked license, but was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The investigation will be handed over the to Tehama County District Attorney’s Office for further review.
