Year Over Unemployment Rate Drops In March

Shasta County’s unemployment rate for March was 5.5%, a drop of just over a half of a percentage point from a year earlier, and almost a half point from February. The labor force increased year-over by 900. There were gains from the previous March in construction, business services, wholesale trade and the private education and health sectors. There were losses in local government and transportation. Tehama County had a 6.3% jobless rate in March. It was 6.8% in Trinity County and 8.8% in Siskiyou County. The California rate was 5.2% and it was 4.3% nationwide.
